Jeff Reading, Tankie Construction Director

Jeff Reading is GBI’s Tankie Construction Director responsible for managing manpower and career development of all Tank field superintendents and craft.  He works closely with our Safety and Quality Directors to ensure that all employees receive the proper training and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).  Jeff’s responsibilities also include oversight of the Field Warehouse and all of the company’s construction equipment, vehicles and trailers.

Jeff has an extensive career in the industrial sector, starting out in the late 70’s as a welder and then 10 years at Geneva Steel Mill as an Iron Worker.  Immediately prior to joining GBI, Jeff spent 24 years working at a tank company in positions ranging from fabrication, field warehouse manager and project manager.

Jeff joined GBI in 2013 as a Project Manager, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to Great Basin Nation.  He managed several key projects for the company, including North Dakota and our expansion into Canada.  He also was instrumental in getting our GBI Tank Erection Manual organized and completed.  Jeff was promoted to Construction Director in 2016.

Jeff will be focused this year on getting out to job sites and helping to develop field leadership training and resources.  His team will also be managing the Field Warehouse’s move from Tremonton to a new building at our Plymouth location, which is expected to be completed by this fall.

Jeff has 4 children ranging from 15 to 28, and currently lives in Kaysville with his fiancé, Tracie.  In his spare time he enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time at his family homestead on the Strawberry River in Wasatch County, Utah.  Jeff loves getting new gear and will gladly buy any Cabela’s gift cards that you might win at the annual GBI raffle.  Just be prepared for him to offer 75 cents on the dollarJ   Some of the more interesting projects Jeff has managed include ones overseas in Guam and in the remote areas of Alaska.  Jeff particularly enjoys being part of projects where the team works well together to succeed.
